From day one Lorenzo hated sleep. He refused to sleep in the hospital crib that was given and even his own once we got home, I was forever asking the midwife for guidance and what to do but I would get the same useless advice back each time. “He will grow into loving his own bed.”
I would cry most nights because i was a walking zombie with a newborn who hated sleep and would only sleep 3hrs straight if he was laying on my belly. You can only imagine how much sleep I got.. yep none
Until one night I put him down and I woke up the next morning having a mini heartache because he has rolled himself over on his belly. But then I realised in that moment my son was a tummy sleeper.
Again the midwife could only tell me not to put him on his stomach but no helpful tips to try and get him to like sleeping on his back. I began buying all these items that people say work go get your baby to sleep better at night. It was the biggest waste of money buying all those items.
I finally got advice from a friend who has definitely had plenty of experience with babies as she has had four kids of her own. She told me I should just do whatever works for us.
For a week now Lorenzo has been a tummy sleeper and he sleeps for a block 4-5hours before waking for a feed. He goes straight down without crying.
Now that he sleeps well once he is two months old I will be starting a routine with him.
